Can AI Govern Society? It’s Not that Simple
November 18, 2024Making Corruption Even More Impossible through the Appointments and Public Service Authority
January 20, 2025There are 4 broad stages in pursuing the changes we desire in our society:
Stage 1. Mass Education on Proposals
Assuming we already have our solutions and plans for a new system compiled into, say, a book (which we already have here), and one is already abreast with the content of this, the first step is to get as many other people as possible to understand and accept these solutions.
Everyone can contribute in their own ways to this step by:
- Sharing content on social media to spread awareness on alternative systems. Focus should be placed on spreading awareness to those not yet familiar with such cause rather than amongst those already on board.
- Supporting, lobbying for or funding campaigns, through ads on radio and TV, social media and outdoor advertising.
- Helping to make the ideas (books or pamphlets) accessible to more people.
- Holding fora to spread education to more people.
Stage 2. Demanding the Solutions
Once enough people are educated on the solutions and a critical mass has formed, the next step is to demand the solutions proposed.
There are peaceful yet very effective strategies to achieve this, including:
- Petitions and direct orders to “representatives” in parliaments/congress
- Industrial (strike) actions
- Boycotts
- Rallies
These are extremely powerful strategies that are guaranteed to ensure change.
It is important, however, to remember that citizens require leadership to be able to rally behind such actions. The onus, therefore, lies on each of us to take up leadership for such change, in our communities, or call on those who can, and beseech them to pursue these causes for us.
Stage 3. Drafts and Consultations
Once the demands are successful, relevant stakeholders would move on to drafting solutions (a new constitution among other things), based on the proposals already made, and undertaking consultations to ensure that they are in line with everyone’s needs.
Stage 4. Change
Change may be implemented through a big bang approach, an iterative approach or a combination of both, as proposed in the restructure plans or book.
